Celebrating 50 Years of Jerry Smith Farm
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, our family had the honor of celebrating a milestone we will never forget: 50 years of Jerry Smith Farm. What began in 1975 as a simple roadside table where Jerry and Rosemary Smith sold their homegrown vegetables has grown into a beloved destination for families from near and far.
From the Country Store, which opened in 1978, to Rosemary’s hand-painted pumpkin displays that became a cherished fall tradition, our story has always been rooted in family, fun, and hard work. Over the years, what started as “our farm” has become “your farm too,” as generations of families have made us part of their own traditions.
The celebration was filled with gratitude, joy, and reflections on the journey that brought us here. We were proud to welcome community leaders who shared words of support and recognition, including:
Dave Strash, President, Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce
Dennis DuChene, President, Visit Kenosha
Jacqueline Klapproth Nelson, Somers Board Trustee and Village Historian
Samantha Kerkman, Kenosha County Executive, who presented our family with an official proclamation designating September 27, 2025, as the 50th Anniversary of Jerry Smith Farm
Most importantly, we were grateful to celebrate with friends and families who have supported us for half a century.
In 2013, Jerry and Rosemary’s legacy was entrusted to Joe and Amy Smith, and in 2023, their daughter, Lauren, returned to help carry on the traditions her grandmother began. Together, we remain committed to preserving everything that makes Jerry Smith Farm special while continuing to grow and create new memories for future generations.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story and for allowing our farm to be part of yours. Here’s to the next 50 years of family, community, and unforgettable traditions at Jerry Smith Farm.
